PREPARATION OF CENTRAL AREA TRANSIT BUS SERVICES (CAT) WITHOUT PASSAGE IN THE CENTER OF TOWN GEORGE TOWN, PENANG

Recognition

Bus Service Central Area Transit (CAT) has been re-established since February 23, 2009 to improve the quality of life and re-employment in urban areas and reduce air pollution, noise, waste of fuel (petrol and diesel) and traffic congestion. In addition to the CAT bus service needed to encourage and increase the use of public transport services in Penang.

Characteristics of Service

Features CAT bus services provided by the Council is as follows (minutes bus included):-

  1. No fare is charged.

  2. Bus routes are from Pengkalan Weld (Ferry) to Komtar 8 km (round trip) to the bus stop 19 which covers an area of ​​1 square km.

  3. Working hours are from 6.00 am to 12.00 pm daily, including weekends and public holidays.

  4. 3 buses used to provide this service and alternation travel time is 20 minutes on average.

  5. Buses used are of the low floor type and bass is 10 meters long. All bass systems equipped with cold and reserved seating for people less effort.

  6. Bus capacity is 49 passengers with 29 seated and 20 standing passengers.

Three Rapid Penang buses used for CAT services have been given a new look to the display of images on the bus to distinguish it from other buses.
